12-Year-Old May Hold Key to Solar Energy - Yahoo! News
Ok so I guess I should be happy that solar technology has gotten a huge leg=up thanks to this kid. But instead I am just jealous and angry that I could not be a scientific genius. Am I a bad person?
Damn you, Humanities. You are officially useless.

Why I love this City

In Toronto, at 10:30 on a friday night you can find tons of bookstores open. And they are full of people.
Yes I am a nerd, I have come to accept that fact whole=heartedly.

Toronto Part Drei

The last post devoted to the beginning of this adventure.
Hello readers,
Yes two posts, because the other one was supposed to be published a week ago, and much has changed.
So let's see...first, canadian customs held my books ransom for about 4 days, and would not give them back. I was sad. UPS had no clue what was going on. Finally, I got them, all in one piece and I did not have to pay fees. At least there was a silver lining.
Classes have begun. And I am so happy. In one course, my professor is someone who I have read tons of his stuff. He is a bit of my idol. Then in another course, I have a professor who did grad school at oxford, and thinks that this is oxford - which translates to reading 500 pages at least a week. HOTT.
Ok update over. When I have internet, expect more!
Miss ya'll,
Chris
P.S. Laura I am hunting for stickers.

*Note: I was waiting to publish this until I got picture to put with it, but I keep forgetting to upload them from my camera, so here is the pictureless rambling*
My dear and wonderful readers,
First of all, I hope you have or will soon sign up for Mobivox - see last post if you have no clue what I am talking about.
Toronto so far has been pretty cool. Expensive and hot. But cool. It is a lot more laid back here. And I am really excited to work with my department. I keep getting e-mails from professors who I have already read tons of their research. So cool. I mean as in have read their research and am in total awe of them...as in, I am not sure I will be able to say a full sentence in front of them. Which will make me look like a complete fool...but such is life.
So what ave I been up to?
Let's start from the top.
I came into the country and after 30 minutes in line at immigration, was allowed to enter Canada with a study permit - yes! Then I took a taxi to my new apartment - $70...ridiculous.
Got to the apartment, the land lady took me out with her sister for a drink, then on Monday, I went with her and her friends to the Toronto Islands, which are in Lake Ontario outside of the city harbour.
It was a beautiful day, and the Islands were glorious. See pictures following. We had lunch at this cute little cafe off out the boardwalk.
Orientation has been fairly standard. I have healthcare...and am technically part of the International Student Centre, but it is so not for Americans. Speaking of which, I am only one of two non-Canadians in my program. Seriously? Ridiculous.
Getting my phone was quite a fiasco. I wanted to get a monthly plan so that I would have unlimited nights and weekends, but in order to do that, I had to have a credit check. Well apparently, my US credit does not work in Canada - which is crap. So i had to put down a $200 deposit. Can we say ouch? Well now you people can call me anytime...because I also get free incoming calls. So use it!
Classes start on Monday. Wish me luck!

[Censored to protect my digits]
Hello all,
Due to a very limited internet connection and heavy eyelids on my part, this will be a quite brief post. But a much longer one will follow tomorrow afternoon, once I am in the haven of good wireless access.
Toronto so far has had its ups and downs, but all in all a good time.
Yes you can call this number from your cell. Yes it will cost you lots of money. But if you sign up for this service - http://www.mobivox.com/ - your call to me will be like a local call. Naturally read the damn website and learn how it works. I will answer questions but only if I must.
Tell me when you have signed up so that I can call you - hint hint.
Miss y'all,
Chris
